The Butler County Sheriff’s Office fired a deputy who is under investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
Weston Keeney is charged with second-degree theft of property in connection with an incident that occurred in Georgiana.
Butler County Sheriff David Scruggs was notified of the investigation on May 21, and Keeney’s employment was terminated that day. The sheriff’s office cooperated with the SBI in the investigation.
Scruggs emphasized the incident did not involve the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
Kenney was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Butler County Detention Center. He is considered innocent until proven guilty.
