Butler County Sheriff Danny Bond announced on Monday he was retiring due to health issues.
Bond said in a statement, “I am announcing my formal decision to retire from my position as Butler County Sheriff, with January 31st being my last day in office.”
“After careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to retire due to ongoing health issues,” Bond said. “The position of Butler County Sheriff will be filled by an appointment made by Governor Kay Ivey, and I have recommended Chief Deputy David Scruggs to fill the remainder of my 4-year term. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my supporters throughout my career, as well as the people of Butler County, who have entrusted me with their safety and security for two terms.”
