The Calera Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding Julie “Dani” Ray, who disappeared on Christmas Day in 2015.
The police department recently reopened the case, hoping that new investigative techniques would yield new leads.
“We feel like that every family deserves our best,” said Chief David Hyche. “And we treat everything that way. We want to investigate this case and every other case just like it was a family member and we don’t feel like, to this point, this case has been given its due.”
Hyche is hopeful that with the fresh perspective and specialized knowledge of Detective Jacob Reach, who came to the Calera PD from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the case will soon be solved.
Ray’s father, Richard Bradshaw, recently gave an emotional plea to the public, saying the family feels like somebody knows something.
“She’s very well missed,” Bradshaw said. “If she can hear this, ‘Please, Julie, give us a call. We will come get you. We love you very much.”
Ray, who was 37 at the time of her disappearance, was last seen in Calera on Christmas Eve. Investigators said they believe she may have been trying to escape her lifestyle at the time, but did not elaborate. Her father said she was experiencing some problems but was "trying to get her life together."
The FBI has conducted out-of-state interviews in the case and is using criminal profilers to solve the case.
