A Camden woman is facing up to 70 years in prison after a Wilcox County grand jury handed down an indictment on three charges.

Angela Blackmon Barge, 56, is charged with aggravated theft by deception and two counts of identity theft after an investigation by the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.

Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the indictment, saying prosecutors presented evidence that Barge was involved in a large theft scheme. His office’s Special Prosecutions Division accused Barge of using others’ identities to facilitate stealing more than $220,000 from her previous employer.

If convicted on all charges, Barge could be sentenced to up to 70 years in prison and fined up to $120,000.

Barge is currently awaiting trial on charges of theft of property and computer tampering involving the Wilcox County Water and Sewer District. Prosecutors believe Barge stole $437,402 from the District. She was indicted last year on those charges and is scheduled to go to trial in November. She has pleaded not guilty.

Barge is being held on a $90,000 cash-only bond on the latest charges, which are unrelated to the Water District case. She is considered innocent until proven guilty.
