The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is preparing for round two of the Camp Explorer program this summer.
The three-day summer camp gives participants a glimpse into what it’s like to be involved in public safety. From interactive activities to educational presentations, children ages 7-11 will get a hands-on look at the criminal justice system.
"Our goal is to provide children with valuable safety education while giving them a positive experience with law enforcement and the justice system," said Sheriff Paul Burch. "Camp Explorer helps build relationships, teaches important life skills, and allows kids to learn through fun, hands-on experiences."
Topics will cover water safety, gun safety, drug prevention and personal responsibility. There will also be a mock trial at the Mobile County Courthouse to allow the kids to see how the judicial system works.
Hankins Middle School camp is June 15 - 17, and Semmes Middle School camp is June 23 – 25. Registration is open online.
