The City of Mobile announced Carnival Cruise Line will return to year-round operations beginning in the spring of 2027.

"The return to year-round sailings from the Port of Mobile is a testament to our relationship with Carnival and the incredible effort the staff at the Cruise Terminal puts into making sure every passenger has an exceptional experience in Mobile," Mayor Sandy Stimpson said. "This is great news for Mobilians and the many businesses that rely on our city's thriving tourism industry."

Since 2023, Carnival Spirit has been cruising passengers from the Port of Mobile six months out of the year. It embarks on trips to the Caribbean Islands, including the Bahamas.

Spirit will return in October to resume another six-month stint, but it is unclear which ship will be assigned to Mobile when year-round trips resume.

Mobile recently built a new gangway at the Mobile Cruise Terminal after aging and electrical problems with the old gangway.

The city has invested in facilities to attract Carnival Cruise Lines and its passengers. During its regular council meeting on Tuesday, the Mobile City Council will consider approving $200,000 for terminal parking deck repairs.
