The city of Moulton will soon have a new mayor after challenger and former fire chief Ryan Jolly defeated incumbent Roger Weatherwax in Tuesday's runoff election. Jolly received 58.36% (384) of the vote compared to Weatherwax's 41.64% (274).

In a statement released after the race was called in his favor, Jolly thanked voters for their support and pledged to bring Moulton into its 'next chapter.'

"This city is the first place I could truly call home, and it's a city I deeply love and care about in so many ways," Jolly said.

"To have the opportunity to serve as the Mayor of this great city is an honor of a lifetime, and not something I take lightly. I am humbled by the support I have received, from the calls, messages, in-person conversations and more. I have truly enjoyed this experience, and I have learned so much about what matters to the people in our community.

"I look forward to working with our city council to advance our city. Additionally, I am excited to engage our community in addressing the things that matter most and energetically look forward to creating a long-term sustainable plan for our present and future generations."

Jolly holds a business degree and served as the fire chief of Moulton for 16 years. He has also worked as an EMT.
