The City of Hoover is abuzz over images of a new billboard sponsored by the group Our Hoover. In a campaign that went live this week, the digital billboard reads, "Change is Coming” with a countdown to the August 26 municipal election next to a crossed-out image of Mayor Frank Brocato.
The billboard is at the corner of Highway 150 and Riverchase Drive by the Chick-Fil-A.
The sponsor of the sign, "Our Hoover" released a statement saying that they are "a coalition of engaged residents committed to building the Hoover its people deserve. The group advocates for transparency, accountability, and common-sense policies to strengthen the city’s future."
Ken King, one of the group's members said, "As the election approaches, we are working to ensure voters understand the impact of Brocato’s leadership and why a change is necessary."
The group has outlined six primary reasons why they believe Brocato has failed Hoover:
1. Financial Mismanagement & Unchecked Spending – Reckless budget decisions and wasteful projects have put Hoover’s financial stability at risk.
2. Unfulfilled Promises & Failed Projects – Brocato has made big promises but delivered little, leaving residents frustrated.
3. Trash Pickup Failures & Poor City Service Management – Basic services like trash collection have suffered under his leadership.
4. High Staff Turnover & Internal Dysfunction – A revolving door of city employees points to a chaotic administration.
5. Transparency & Accountability Issues – Residents deserve open government, not secrecy and deflection.
6. Overall Leadership Failures & Declining Public Trust – Trust in city leadership has eroded, and many believe it’s time for new direction.
"The August 26 election will be a pivotal moment for Hoover. Our Hoover is urging residents to take action by staying informed, engaging in discussions about the city’s future, and ultimately, voting for change at the ballot box," King said.
Brocato has indicated that he intends to run for reelection.
