People concerned about Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl’s support of President-elect Donald Trump are “fools, idiots or jackasses,” according to Charles Barkley.
Barkley, a Kamala Harris voter, said on NBA on TNT’s "The Steam Room" podcast on Wednesday that Democrats lost because they are "stupid” and he didn’t care who Pearl voted for.
“We lost. I just want to say this to the Democrats: shut the (expletive) up. When you win, you get to say what you want to. When you lose, you need to shut the hell up. ‘Oh, President Biden, they didn’t get him out of the race soon enough. Kamala didn’t do this.’ We lost because we had no game plan. We still haven’t solved the immigration problem, have no viable answers, (and) never addressed inflation. Bringing all these stupid stars out to rally the vote. What was that? Hey, I love Beyonce, (but) bringing her out that ain’t going to make me vote a certain way. Cardi B, I like Cardi B. That ain’t going to make me vote a certain type of way. You guys lost because y’all stupid. Come up with solutions. I don’t think everybody that voted for Trump is racist or whatever. I’m not a fan of the guy but he’s the president. I’m going to have to respect the office,” Barkley said.
The Auburn basketball legend and NBA Hall of Famer continued, “Oh, another thing. The next one of you fools, idiots, or jackasses send me an article about Bruce Pearl supporting Trump, I’m going to punch you in your face.”
“Bruce Pearl can vote for who he wants to. Bruce Pearl got two jobs: win basketball games and graduate players. That’s all I care about. That’s all I care about with him at Auburn: winning me games and graduating players. Me and Bruce had this conversation when he first got the job. I said, ‘Hey man, I want to win and I want you to graduate these young, black men. That’s all I care about. I don’t care who you vote for.’ For some reason, all you fools are sending me articles that he supports Trump. That man can support who we wants to. These people out here talking about, ‘If you don’t vote for Kamala, you ain’t black and this and this.’ Shut the hell up. People can vote for who they want to,” Barkley added.
