Hundreds gathered at Veterans Memorial Park in Hoover on Sunday to remember and honor the life of Charlie Kirk. The event included a prayer vigil followed by two speakers, Morgan Walters and Rick Shaver.
Walters opened the service saying, "The enemy comes only to steel kill and to destroy. For a moment, I bet that he thought that he was successful. But in times like these, God calls us to have faith over fear, to come even more bold and rise up and drown out the whisper of the. The enemy has subsequently against his own agenda, ignited a spark, and the body of Christ, unlike ever before that will spread like wildfire."
In his remarks, Shaver described meeting Kirk and attending several Turning Points USA (TPUSA) events. He challenged attendees, saying, "I appreciate, and I love moments of silence, but the time for Christians to be silent is over. It's time to rise up, find your voice. It's the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking through you. You know, when Jesus sent out the disciples, he said, Don't even worry about what you're going to say. Just go. Just go. I'm going to give you the words to say."
Following the event, Shaver said, "What a great turn out tonight at Veteran's Park in Hoover celebrating the life of Charlie Kirk and unifying together to pray and take a stand for Christ! What a beautiful message from Morgan Walker and her sister Mackenzie who sang the national anthem after worship! Hundreds of folks gathered to listen and pray and worship together. We had an amazing time of prayer after the service and had at least one salvation and many came forward for individual prayer needs. What an amazing privilege to serve our community and come together to celebrate a Risen King, a fallen(yet risen) brother in Christ, and to see a unified body of Christ!"
