The Hueytown Police Department arrested a man after a chase through four communities and two counties.
Police said an officer spotted a subject with warrants in the Walmart parking lot around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. The officer attempted to pull over the man's vehicle, but he failed to stop.
A chase ensued through Hueytown, Midfield, Brighton and Bessemer. The subject and the officer drove down Interstate 59/20 from Jefferson to Tuscaloosa County, where the suspect exited at Exit 100. As he tried to get back onto the interstate, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed on the entrance ramp.
The man was taken into custody and booked into the Hueytown City Jail. A Hueytown officer was injured on the scene and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
"We are thankful we were able to take this individual, who had no regard for anyone's safety, into custody without serious injury," police stated. "We will continue to do whatever is necessary to protect our community from those who think they can come here and commit crimes."
The suspect will be identified pending formal charges.
