The United States District Court announced the indictment of a Chattanooga, Tenn. man for the assault of a DeKalb County corrections officer.
Thomas Elliott, 31, is charged with forcibly assaulting a corrections officer. A Huntsville grand jury handed down the indictment after hearing evidence.
The incident occurred in November 2025. Prosecutors claim Elliott assaulted the officer at the DeKalb County Detention Center.
The U.S. Marshals Service was called in to investigate.
Elliott faces 20 years in prison. He is considered innocent until proven guilty.
