The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) responded to a fatal go-kart crash in Madison County on Saturday evening.
The crash happened at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Stewart Road, near Mount Lebanon Road.
A 12-year-old driving a Manco Dingo go-kart left the roadway and struck a culvert. The child, from Harvest, was thrown from the go-kart. The juvenile was transported to a nearby hospital but did not survive his injuries.
Troopers say the child was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The ALEA's Highway Patrol Division is investigating.
