A 1999 GMC C1500 left the roadway, went airborne and struck a tree. A six-year-old child was killed and was pronounced dead on the scene.
ALEA senior trooper Brandon Bailey said the crash occurred on Cherokee County 237, approximately 10 miles north of Leesburg, at 10:22 a.m.
The child was a passenger in the truck, driven by Brandon Cobb, of Sand Rock. Cobb was injured and transported to Floyd Atrium Hospital in Rome, Ga.
