The unofficial election results in Anniston are in, and Ciara Smith appears to have won the crowded race with 57.31% of the votes.
Smith assumed the role of mayor after the sudden resignation of Mayor Jack Draper in May.
Smith, a Jacksonville State graduate, is the city's first African-American and youngest-ever mayor.
Smith was challenged by Kevin Cheatwood (10.26%), Steven Folks (19.49%), Ben Little (12.08%) and Michael Woods (0.86%).
