Fentanyl cases have been on the rise across Alabama and the nation.

Now, two departments of the City of Mobile — Public Safety and Communications — have produced a video highlighting the dangers of fentanyl and the lives it is impacting in Alabama.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is unusually dangerous because of its unexpected potency.

Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson said, "It's 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. As little as 2 mg can cause a fatal overdose."

"The video our staff put together is primarily a work of fiction, but it features the true story of Mobilian Lori Myles. After her son Harrison passed away from an accidental overdose in 2022, Lori has worked to fight the stigma of drug addiction by sharing her family's story and encouraging others to get the help they need. We appreciate Lori participating in this video and everything she's doing in the community," he added.
