Several Clay-Chalkville Middle School students were sent home sick on Thursday after they ate cookies brought by another student. Officials said the students bought the cookies from the student. However, it is against the rules to sell food items at school.

Principal Jason Wilson told WBRC the cookies did not contain drugs.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office tested the cookies and found no evidence of illicit substances.

At least one student was sent to the hospital for treatment. The other students were treated by medical personnel.
