Unseasonably warm temperatures will end Monday as a cold front moves through the state, bringing freezing temperatures and strong, gusty winds.
The Alabama Weather Network forecasts temperatures 15 degrees below average for this time of year, compared with 15 degrees above normal the last several days.
A hard freeze is expected in the northern and eastern parts of the state, and near-freezing temperatures are expected on the Gulf Coast overnight Monday. As the cold front moves through the state, showers are possible.
Meteorologists expect cold temperatures to continue throughout the week.
The National Weather Service (NWS) reminds Alabamians to allow water to drip from a faucet overnight to keep pipes from freezing on an outside wall. Also, keep pets indoors and place potted plants inside.
Scattered showers move through late tonight in the north and move through the rest of the state tomorrow morning.
