*Former UAB tight end Brody Dalton is transferring to Troy. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Dalton entered the transfer portal last week and made his decision earlier this week.

"One of the main reasons I entered the transfer portal was because we got a whole new coaching staff basically, and it was a crazy year with Coach Clark leaving," Dalton said in a text message to 1819 News. "Then Coach V (Bryant Vincent) left as well, and it was going to be all new. So, I just decided to enter the portal to see what my options were."

Dalton added: "It was a very difficult choice to leave because I had been at UAB for nearly two years and made some great relationships. I didn't want to leave them, so it was a very hard decision for me."

Dalton said he had interest from several schools in a short amount of time, including Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, Pitt and North Texas. The former Fyffe High standout said Troy fit his needs best.

"I chose Troy because it is kind of a small town atmosphere, like I'm used to, and felt that it would be a good fit," Dalton said.
