Democrats already face an uphill battle when running for office in Republican-led Alabama. But it’s even harder when it’s unclear which office they’re running for.
Amanda Puscek is a Huntsville nurse running as a Democrat for U.S. House Representative in Alabama’s District 4. Or is it District 5?
As of Wednesday, Puscek’s campaign pages on Instagram and Facebook, Citizens for Amanada Pusczek, introduced her as a candidate for AL-5, as does a four-month-old post on Reddit and at least one event flyer advertising a previous speaking engagement. She has also posted criticism of U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia), who currently holds the seat.
However, her personal TikTok page lists her as a candidate for AL-4. Online records with the U.S. Federal Election Commission also list her as running for AL-4, but that was not always the case.
Puscek filed her initial statement of candidacy in April, declaring for AL-5. However, on August 6, she filed an addendum switching to AL-4.
1819 News asked Puscek via email to clarify the discrepancy and explain why she switched districts but did not receive a response.
However, as of Thursday, her campaign's Facebook page description changed to show her as a candidate for AL-4, but her Instagram profile still lists AL-5.
Neither the Citizens for Amanda Puscek’s website nor her ActBlue donation page lists either district.
