FOLEY – The Alabama Attorney General’s Office announced the murder conviction of a Foley woman would be upheld after the case was appealed.
Linda Doyle, 69, was sentenced to 99 years in prison in connection to the death of her husband, James Doyle.
James Doyle was shot and killed on the night of July 30, 2019. Linda Doyle called 911 and told dispatchers her husband had stabbed her. When police arrived, they found the man shot to death in the living room of the couple’s River Trace home.
From the beginning, police were suspicious of her story that the couple got into an argument over sexual demands and that James Doyle came at her with a butcher knife.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Linda Doyle tried to hire a hitman. Investigators said she also sought an untraceable firearm and told someone she was going to kill her husband.
Police believe Linda Doyle stabbed herself in the vagina multiple times to make her claims look legitimate.
Linda Doyle was convicted of murder on Feb. 17, 2022. The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the conviction on June 16, 2023.
