Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry won the Republican nomination for Public Service Commission Place 1.
After nearly a year of grassroots campaigning, Gentry beat incumbent Jeremy Oden. With 38% of the votes in, Gentry had a healthy 75% over Oden’s 25%.
Gentry campaigned on a message of transparency and allowing Alabamians to have a voice to keep power rates low.
Gentry will face the Democratic nominee in the November general election. Results for that race, between James O. Gordon, John Northrop and Jeff Ramsey have not been returned.
