A recent poll shows Attorney General Steve Marshall in the lead to be Alabama’s next U.S. Senator.
Commissioned by the Business Council of Alabama, the Montgomery-based research firm Cygnal conducted the poll by surveying 400 Republican primary voters in late July.
When asked who they would vote for today in the Senate race, 24% of respondents said Marshall, while 12.9% said Auburn coach Bruce Pearl, 8.8% said U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) and 3% said Jared Hudson, Alabama Daily News reported.
Just over 51% were undecided. However, the number increased to 57.5% with Pearl removed from the options.
The poll also showed the majority of respondents were primarily concerned about economic issues and were pleased with President Donald Trump’s performance as well as that of Gov. Kay Ivey and U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), who is vacating his Senate seat to run for governor.
