The Congregation Mayim Chayim in Daphne continued services Saturday morning after what investigators believe was a hoax bomb threat.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the synagogue on County Road 64 and secured the area. Daphne Police, Daphne Fire and the Mobile Police Department’s bomb squad also responded.
It was determined the threat was not credible.
Investigators said the threat may have been part of a nationwide hoax.
"While it is unfortunate that we must spend resources on a hoax or even give this sort of activity attention, we are sharing this information out of an abundance of caution," said Cpt. Andre Reid with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. "Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of all our citizens. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office would like to use this incident as a reminder, 'If you see something, say something.”
