The Fairhope Police Department was investigating a death near the Fairhope Municipal Pier on Saturday evening.
Officers on the scene asked people to avoid the area and restricted vehicle and pedestrian traffic while they were on the scene.
Detectives believe the person died from a self-inflicted gunshot and said there was no threat to the general public.
