The deaths of a Mississippi mother and her small child, whose bodies were found in the Tombigbee River, have been classified as murder-suicide.
According to WLBT, the bodies of Shardee McGill, 32, and Janae McGill, 3, were recovered after the two were reported missing from Jackson, Miss., by Shardee McGill’s husband.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) investigated the case and determined the manner of death of Shardee McGill was suicide, and the manner of death of Janae McGill was homicide. Authorities believe Shardee McGill took her own life after murdering her child.
ALEA said no other suspects were involved in the deaths. Findings will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office.
