In June 2025, Ronald Bland, 32, allegedly shot and killed 27-year-old Akera Harris outside of a club on W. Moulton Street in Decatur.
Following Harris' death, Bland was arrested and booked into the Morgan County Jail. He was initially held without bond under Aniah’s Law, but later posted bail after a local judge set a $50,000 bond.
According to WAFF, as part of his bond agreement, Bland was "ordered to wear a GPS tracking device, report to a pre-trial supervision program and stay at least 200 yards away from where the shooting happened."
While out on bond, Bland reportedly failed two drug tests and violated GPS monitoring rules.
Despite the issues, he is set to be released from custody this month, once he is equipped with a new GPS monitor.
