A Madison man was indicted on federal charges in connection to a child porn investigation.

John Justin McCall, 53, who was serving as a worship leader at Grace River Community Church in Decatur at the time of his arrest, is charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of children and one count of possession of child pornography.

According to the indictment, McCall coerced and enticed minor children to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography, and he possessed child pornography between May 2023 and October 2023.

McCall was previously convicted of criminal sexual abuse in two separate cases in Illinois. He was arrested in October 2023 for failing to register as a sex offender in Alabama and for soliciting sex from a minor.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

McCall is considered innocent until proven guilty.
