You may have read the recent news about Alabama’s Republican Women taking home multiple awards at the recent National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) convention in Orlando, Fla. Alabama took home the two top membership awards for “Greatest Numerical Increase of Members” and “Greatest Numerical Net Increase of New Clubs.”

Sounds impressive, but what’s the rest of the story?

In 2024, each club was challenged to grow by 25% as part of a larger membership initiative at the NFRW level. Our women got to work, holding membership events and organizing forums and campaign events designed to educate and inform women on candidates and the Republican Party. The enthusiasm for the Trump-Vance campaign provided the impetus for our existing members to stay engaged. Many women, new to the political process, found a political home in our organization.  As a result, we added 343 new members across the state.

Point Clear Republican Women led the way by adding the greatest number of new members (80), a stunning achievement for a club that was only chartered in 2023 under the leadership of President Jerry Ann McCarron.

Fourteen additional clubs met or exceeded the 25% goal, including Downtown Huntsville Republican Women, West Mobile Republican Women, and Capital City Republican Women, to name just a few. But that’s only part of the story. Six new clubs were established, including North Baldwin County Republican Women, South Mobile County Republican Women, South Shelby County Republican Women, Republican Women of Franklin County, Republican Women of the Black Belt, and Chilton County Republican Women all received their charters in 2024 and 2025.

And the momentum continues. Two more clubs will charter later this year, Elmore County Republican Women and Autauga County Republican Women. They join Republican Women of the Black Belt, Chilton County Republican Women, and Republican Women of Franklin County as new clubs in counties where we previously did not have a presence. We are enlarging our footprint and increasing our influence across the state.

I had the pleasure of serving as membership vice president for the past two years. I am grateful for the leadership of President Tiffany Noel, our club presidents, and our district directors whose hard work and creativity led to our growth. Individual club success will be recognized and celebrated at our state convention in Birmingham later this month.

We welcome Republican women to join our existing clubs or start new ones. Visit www.alfrw.org  for more information on how to get involved.
