Yordy Centeno-Melchor, an illegal alien, should stay in the custody of the Elmore County Sheriff until his criminal case for the attempted kidnapping of a young girl is finished, according to Josh Cochran, assistant District Attorney for the 19th Judicial Circuit.
Elmore County Sheriff's deputies arrested Centeno-Melchor for attempted kidnapping on Friday.
"The State is concerned that if the Defendant is released into the custody of ICE, he will be deported and he will never be held accountable for the crimes he has committed against a child victim in Elmore County," Cochran said in a filing on Tuesday. "To ensure the Defendant remains in Elmore County until this criminal case is concluded the State requests the Court issue an order for the Defendant to be held in the custody of the Sheriff of Elmore County until the conclusion of the criminal case."

"Centeno has an extensive ICE encounter history that includes six previous removals and two federal convictions for illegal entry. ERO has placed a detainer on Centeno," the spokesman added.
