State Sen. Donnie Chesteen (R-Geneva) won the Republican primary for State Senate District 29 on Tuesday.

According to preliminary results, Chesteen defeated Zachary Hurst and Val Glasgow Paul with 85% of the vote.

Chesteen said on Tuesday night, “I want to sincerely thank the people of Senate District 29 for your support, your encouragement, and your vote today. I am truly grateful. Over the years, I’ve been blessed to meet so many hardworking, good-hearted people across our communities, and I never take that for granted.”

“Seeing friends, neighbors, and supporters continue to stand with me means more than I can properly put into words. Thank you for the prayers, the phone calls, the conversations, the kind words, and for taking the time to go vote. Your continued trust and support through the years has been both humbling and deeply appreciated. It is an honor to serve the people of Southeast Alabama, and I look forward to continuing to work hard for our district every single day. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart,” Chesteen said.
