Officials at Dothan Regional Airport believe an on-duty police officer took his own life Tuesday morning.
Officer Glen Ketchum was found shot around 9:45 a.m. just south of the terminal.
Airport director Adam Hartzog said support services are being provided for Ketchum’s family and for airport staff.
WTVY News 4 reported that Ketchum's body was found in a lot south of the terminal.
The investigation remains active.
The airport remained open. Dothan Regional Airport serves Southeast Alabama, Southeast Georgia and the Florida panhandle. It offers daily flights to and from Atlanta through the Delta Connection.
