The Dothan City Board of Education will search for a new high school principal for the 2025-26 school year after Dr. Keith Bland submitted his resignation this week.

Bland was named principal of Dothan High School in 2022. He was hired from Florida's Bay High School, where he was an administrator and head football coach.

Before coaching, he was the principal at a high school in Panama City, where he was recognized as the "Best and Brightest" principal from the Florida Department of Education.

Bland earned his undergrad from the University of Memphis and received his master of education in educational leadership and his educational specialist degree from the University of West Florida. He then went on to earn his educational doctorate in health and educational leadership from Nebraska Methodist College.

The school system posted on Facebook, "We would like to welcome Dr. Keith Bland to Geneva County. "

Bland will replace outgoing principal Ashley Sanders. Sanders will move to the central office to oversee transportation, school safety and secondary curriculum.

Geneva County Schools also hired a new Slocomb Middle School principal, Will Cammack.
