While many municipalities in Alabama will head to the polls on August 26, the City of Dothan will hold its municipal elections on August 5.

The mayor’s and four associate commissioner seats are contested.

Jimmy McCray is challenging Mayor Mark Saliba (incumbent).

Associate Commissioner races include:

District 4

Districts 5 and 6 seats are unopposed. Incumbents Gantt Pierce and David Crutchfield qualified to maintain their positions.

Dothan municipal elections will also include school board members. Sample ballots may be viewed below.

Polls at 10 locations will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

If a runoff election is required, it will be held on September 16.

Newly elected municipal officials will take office for a four-year term beginning October 6.

Absentee voter and voter registration information

Absentee voters must mail applications by July 29 and mail in their ballots by August 5. Absentee voters may also hand-deliver applications by July 31 and hand-deliver ballots by August 4.

Dothan is the Houston County seat, but its city limits extend beyond the county into Dale and Henry Counties. Residents in each county must contact their Board of Registrars for voter registration information.
