The Dothan Police Department arrested a suspect in a shooting death Tuesday afternoon.
Vincent Phillips, 22, is charged with capital murder.
Officers responded to the scene in the 400 block of East Spring Street just after 1 p.m. They found Brittney Alise Henderson, 39, of Dothan, deceased.
The suspect had fled the scene but was promptly captured.
Investigators believe Henderson was on her back porch when Phillips, a neighbor, approached her. After a brief interaction, Chief William Benny said Phillips pulled out a firearm and pointed it at Henderson and fired one round.
Detectives are working to determine the motivation behind the killing.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Brittney Henderson as they grieve this devastating loss,” Benny stated.
Phillips is being held without bond.
