The development of the Bottling Plant Event Center closely paralleled the rebirth of downtown Opelika.

Founder, owner and operator Lisa Ditchkoff announced Monday that she has sold the facility and that it will continue to operate much as is. The new owner is Whistlestop Bottle and Brew, also located in historic downtown Opelika.

Ditchkoff’s announcement via Facebook reads:

The center is located near the railroad tracks in downtown Opelika. It has grown over time and now handles events from small seminars, luncheons and dinner parties to large events with up to 1,500 people. They also do off-site catering, a wine shop and a local favorite “Wine Down Wednesdays.”

The center is a popular venue for weddings and receptions, conferences, exhibitions and trade shows, fundraisers and social functions, and parties and reunions.

Lisa Ditchkoff, a local event planner, partially opened the event center in 2010. It has grown as downtown Opelika has re-grown.

In 2013, she released her first memoir, “The Girl with the Caterpillar Eyebrows: Survival. Resilience. Triumph.” She will use some of her time after selling the event center to write a sequel.
