A luncheon featuring U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) could be interrupted on Thursday due to dueling demonstrations planned outside the event in Foley.
The Baldwin County Democratic Party is planning a protest ahead of the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce’s 2025 Leadership Series program.
The program is being held at the Foley Civic Center, near Moore’s Foley satellite office.
In response to the Democratic protest, the Baldwin County Republican Party is planning the “Stand Up For What We Believe” rally.
According to organizers, the Democratic Party plans to share stories of “how the Trump agenda has destroyed quality of life” for people. Nearly 100 people have signed up to attend the protest.
The Republican Party plans to hold signs and wear Republican clothing “in support of Congressman Moore, President Trump and our conservative values.”
Organizers on both sides are urging participants to remain peaceful and “non-confrontational.”
Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich told 1819 News that city officials work closely with security personnel anytime a public figure visits.
“Foley PD works closely with the sheriff, state and federal law enforcement to make sure public events are safe for all,” said Hellmich. “I would expect citizens that attend these public events to conduct themselves respectfully.”
