The Electric Cooperatives of Alabama Political Action Committee, the political arm of the Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives (AREA), recently announced its endorsement of Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman) for reelection.
The endorsement was approved by the PAC's board of directors, a group of leaders from Alabama's electric cooperatives focused on supporting rural communities and the state's energy industry.
"Pro Tem Gudger has been a steadfast advocate for Alabama's electric cooperatives and a true champion for rural communities across our state," said AREA CEO Karl Rayborn. "We are grateful for his leadership and are proud to stand with him as he continues to advance policies that shape Alabama's future."
The endorsement came after Gudger championed the "Powering Growth" legislative package, which received Gov. Kay Ivey's signature in May.
The package contained several provisions for the state's rural areas, which the PAC believes demonstrate a continued commitment to prioritizing the needs of rural areas, promoting sound energy policy, and enhancing the economic vitality of communities throughout the state.
