Cathedral Church of the Advent live-streamed the funeral service for Ella Cook, the 19-year-old Mountain Brook woman who was killed in the Brown University shooting on December 13.

A letter from a fellow student to Cook’s parents was read in part.

“Ella had a uniquely quiet gravity,” the letter stated.

Ella Cook Alabama News

The priest revealed that in only three semesters of college, Cook made a mark. In fact, her nickname on campus was “Ellabama,” according to a professor.

"A wonderful daughter, a marvelous granddaughter, an extraordinarily faithful sister, a constant friend and an antimating, beloved classmate," is how Cook was described by those who knew her. The priest said that while loved ones may never know why they have suffered such a great loss, he is sure Cook is now in Heaven with the Heavenly Father. He said the love she offered remains with the world.

Cook was remembered during the service as a caring and loving member of the community. Her love for children was especially noted.

The cathedral was filled with attendees wearing Easter colors, in honor of Cook’s appreciation for the resurrection of Christ. A private burial service was planned for the family.

The full service can be viewed online here.
