State Sen. Chris Elliott (R-Josephine) won the GOP primary Tuesday against challenger Mike Vandenheuvel.
According to unofficial election returns, Elliott had a comfortable lead with 73% (14,561) of the votes. Vandenheuvel had 27% (5,445). The results will be certified next week,
Elliott will face Democrat candidate Janet Appleby for Alabama Senate District 32 in November.
