The Elmore County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a deputy was shot during an incident on Saturday, Jan. 29, according to multiple reports.

The shooting happened in Eclectic, around 9 p.m. The deputy was responding to a call about a person barricaded inside a home on Claud Road. The suspect, Jeffrey Cofer, 59, fired eight shots, according to the sheriff’s office, and struck the deputy in his right shoulder.

The deputy is recovering and Cofer was taken into custody. Cofer was booked into the Elmore County Jail on a charge of attempted murder. More charges are expected.
