An Elmore County woman was all smiles Tuesday just hours after she shot a deputy who was trying to arrest her.

The deputy attempted to arrest Ebony Bracy, 40, of Wetumpka, at a location in the 700 block of Dozier Road.

According to law enforcement, Bracy produced a firearm and shot at deputies, striking one of them. The injured deputy was able to fire back and struck Bracy. Another person was also struck.

All injuries were non-life threatening.

Bracy was treated and released into the Elmore County Jail on two charges of attempted murder. She remains behind bars on a $2 million cash bond.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate.

Bracy’s previous charges included menacing, second-degree assault and resisting arrest.
