Auburn basketball head coach Bruce Pearl criticized two Jewish-American U.S. Senators on Thursday for how they have played politics over Israel in its ongoing war with Hamas.

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Wednesday voted to block weapons shipments to Israel to aid Israel, while Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has blocked Senate passage of the sanctions bill against the International Criminal Court, which issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Thursday.

Pearl, a Jewish-American himself, said he was "embarrassed and disgusted with the political behavior of Jewish leaders in Congress, Senators Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders."

"Hamas waged 'all out war' not Israel!" Pearl wrote on X Thursday morning. "The side waging all-out war is the one for whom civilian casualties are the end goal – the side that butchered, raped and kidnapped Israeli civilians and continues to use Palestinian civilians as human shields. The side that pilfers humanitarian aid intended for its own citizens. Israel could have bombed every square inch of Gaza from the air and killed millions and sparing their own soldiers. Instead they sent their young men and women into door to door battle, losing over 800 to prevent Genocide and rescue the hostages!"

He continued, "Shame on Bernie Sanders and the other 17 Democrats who voted for an Arms Embargo against Israel as they fight on all fronts against terrorists who want to eliminate them!"

"As a Jewish American I'm embarrassed and disgusted with the political behavior of Jewish leaders in Congress, Senators Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders," the basketball coach wrote on X in a later post. "I'm so grateful for the strong majority of Americans who support and defend Israel. God bless you and God Bless America."
