This weekend will be the final weekend of operation for Nana Funks in Birmingham's Lakeview.

"After so many unforgettable nights, incredible memories, and relationships we'll carry with us forever, the time has come for us to say goodbye," the bar posted.

The bar drew public backlash from neighbors and the Birmingham City Council after a shooting in April. The bar's management outlined the safety protocols it was taking, but council members expressed concerns, and police outlined a history of responses to the location.

The nightclub did not give a reason for the closure but invited patrons to enjoy one last weekend, saying, "We've truly enjoyed the good times, the people, and the relationships built within these walls more than words can say. Come get funky with us one last time this weekend as we celebrate the end of an era, the only way we know how."
