An Enterprise woman accused of murdering her child is asking for a speedy trial.

Adrienne Reid, 33, is charged with capital murder and abuse of a corpse. According to court records, Reid’s attorney filed a motion requesting the judge for a speedy trial pursuant to the Alabama Speedy Trial Act.

“This motion is filed for the purpose of expediting the trial of this matter, as Defendant is being held without bond,” the motion states.

The Enterprise Police Department arrested Reid after the disappearance of her two-year-old daughter, Genesis Reid. Reid reported her daughter missing on February, although investigators said the child had not been seen since Christmas Day.

Surveillance video from a neighbor showed a person placing a duffel bag and toys into a dumpster.

Coffee County District Attorney James Tarbox said evidence shows Reid killed her daughter, then threw her in the dumpster. The child’s body was never found.

Reid is considered innocent until proven guilty.
