An Etowah County man was sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of child sex abuse and possession of obscene material.
Paul Victor Yother, 44, pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12 and 11 counts of unlawful possession of obscene material.
The child abuse charge holds a 10-20-year mandatory sentence with no eligibility for parole.
Investigators in Walton County, Fla. contacted the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office in 2024 about possible sex abuse. They found that Yother had sexually abused three young girls over an extended period. Authorities later discovered at least one additional victim.
Yother admitted to the abuse during recorded phone calls with the father of one victim.
In addition to the abuse, Yother had 152 images of small girls showing their breasts, buttocks and genitals, and enaging in sex acts and a young boy showing his genitals, as well as a video of two small juveniles in the shower.
Etowah County District Attorney Jody Willoughby expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts in bringing Yother to justice and commended the bravery of the victims and their families for their cooperation.
