The Conecuh County Coroner’s Office confirmed two people were killed in a house fire overnight.
Fire crews were called to the scene at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival, the home on Stowers Timberland Road in Evergreen was engulfed in flames.
Of the four occupants inside the home, two were able to get out and were transported to a local hospital with injuries. The two others inside succumbed to their injuries. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner’s office has not released the identities of the two killed, pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the coroner’s office, the Evergreen Police Department and the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office.
