The Falkville Police Department arrested a man Wednesday night with the assistance of its K9 officer.
Officers conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 65 deployed K9 Nellie. The K9 alerted her partner that there were drugs in the vehicle.
In the course of the investigation, a large amount of a methamphetamine and fentanyl mixture was discovered. Police said the suspect attempted to hide the drugs in a glass of sweet tea.
Scotty Barber was arrested and booked into the Morgan County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
"We are extremely grateful for our officers and K9 Nellie," the police department stated. "Their hard work and dedication to service continue to keep our streets safe for our community."
Barber is considered innocent until proven guilty.
