The family of Kevin Rose got a big surprise recently when a national non-profit contacted them following the death of their patriarch.

Tunnel to Towers Foundation contacted the family and offered them a mortgage-free home in honor of July 4.

“For first responders, there is no such thing as being off-duty,” said Tunnel to Towers Foundation CEO Frank Siller. “These heroes are hardwired to run toward danger, to help those who need it, without hesitation. When Kevin’s son was in danger, Kevin sprung into action and laid down his life to save his son. This home will be a constant reminder of Kevin’s years of selfless service.

Rose died on June 23, 2023, while trying to save his son from a rip current on Alabama’s coast. He left behind his wife, Page; three sons, Tate, Jones, and Trigg; and two grandchildren.

In 2000, Rose decided to leave the automotive business and become a firefighter after his wife and her family, first responders, encouraged him.

He worked with the Huntsville Fire Department for over 20 years.

Page Rose said the Tunnel to Towers First Responder program has helped the family in many ways. She is thankful and said it is good to know the non-profit, which was started in response to 9/11, is doing what it is supposed to do.
