A Birmingham chapter of the far-left Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is planning to picket a local Chevron gas station over the company's support for Israel in its conflict with Hamas.

The Birmingham DSA announced on Monday a "Stop Fueling Genocide" picket on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Birmingham DSA said on Facebook Monday, "As part of DSA's Stop Fueling Genocide campaign against Chevron, along with international partner organizations, Birmingham DSA will be leading an informational picket outside of a local Chevron station on Saturday, March 29th from 1-3PM."

"We will meet outside of our chapter office space at MAKEbhm and travel together to select Chevron stations to hold banners and picket signs, pass out information about Chevron's complicity in Israel's brutal occupation of Palestine, and encourage drivers to boycott Chevron," Birmingham DSA said. "March 21st through 30th is Israeli Apartheid Week, which is a grassroots solidarity movement through the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement to raise awareness of Israeli apartheid and to mobilize support for strategic BDS campaigns. We call all community members to boycott Chevron and Texaco gas, and for local Chevron station owners to demand that Chevron ends its contract with Israel and fueling Israeli occupation and genocide in Palestine."

Birmingham DSA continued, "DSA is part of a global campaign led by the BDS National Committee targeting Chevron and its illegal and immoral support of Israeli apartheid, colonization, and ethnic cleansing. Attend one of our local actions to join the campaign against Chevron and Israeli genocide in Birmingham and Alabama!"
